Classes at The New Flesh Workshop

 

REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR SPRING COURSES!

 

     New Flesh offers classes on various subjects in Technology, Fabrication, Art and Science.  We are currently hosting all-ages classes for adults and children (when accompanied by a guardian), and will soon be offering a dedicated afters-school program for kids ages 8-18. We provide fun, hands-on, immersive courses geared towards direct experiential learning. We also host private tutoring sessions by appointment for various topics in Science, Art and Math.

Parents and children working as teams to make a single in-class project only pay ONE fee!

Object Casting

                An in depth course on technical and artistic mold making.  Learn how to make various molds using plaster, alginate, silicone and acrylic and cast with several types of material. Molding and object casting techniques include Single and multi-part molds, Wax Investment Molds, Metal Casting, and Silicone Molding and Casting.

 

Class Length: 1hour 15 minutes, 5:30-6:45 PM

Class Dates: 8 Classes,

March 22nd, 29th

April, 5rd, 12th, 19th, 26th

May 3rd, 10th

Cost: $160 for the course, $20 for Walk-Ins

 

Body Casting

                Learn various body molding and casting methods used for making prosthetics, artistic body casts and movie special effects make-up! This course covers the use of alginate, plaster bandage and silicone for body molding. All participants will create a mold of their head and shoulders which can be used for casting several types of materials!

                This class is MESSY! Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Class Length:1 hour 30 min, 7-8:30PM (first 4 classes); 2 hours, 7-9PM (last 4 classes)

Intro to Sculpture

                Learn the basics of Sculpting or come practice the fundamentals. Geared towards beginners, this course serves as a jumping off point to many other types of sculpture and fabrication. Participants will learn techniques in clay sculpting, armature building, wax carving, basic mold making, casting and finishing. This class is MESSY! Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

 

Class Length:1 Hour 30 Minutes, 5:30-7pm

Sculpture Workshop

                Geared toward more experienced sculptors or those that have taken our Intro to Sculpture class, this course covers diverse topics such as mixed media sculpture, basic metal work, plastic fabrication, fiberglass molds and casting, foam sculpting and metal casting.  Class time is split between instruction and open workshop time. This class is MESSY! Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

 

Class Length: 1 Hour 30 Min, 7:15-8:45

D.I.Y. Animatronics

                Make your own D.I.Y.  Animatronic puppets! This course teaches the basics of animatronic puppets like those used in monster movies. Participants in this course will create an armature for an animatronic tentacle! This armature is then used as the base to create a custom skin.  This class is MESSY! Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

DIY Electronics

                Participants in this course will learn the fundamentals of electronics by constructing D.I.Y. versions of common electronic and electro-mechanical devices. All projects are hands-on, using everyday materials. Projects include D.I.Y. Battery Banks, Speakers, Motors, Capacitors, Transmitters and Radio Receivers. Great for kids and parents!
